The "Generations of Faith" program integrates intergenerational learning about a theme with a whole parishwide celebration of an event or liturgy related to that specific theme. Every "Generations of Faith" Festival gathers a large community (children, parents, couples, singles, retired adults, teenagers, newcomers, college students, senior citizens, EVERYONE) once-a-month or seasonally for food, fun, and prayer. Each festival begins with a meal, moves into an intergenerational activity based on a faith topic, and finishes with breakout sessions for family groups and or age appropriate groups. A home kit containing prayers, activities, readings, etc., is provided to each household, at the end of the gathering, to reinforce and expand on what was learned.
STEP 1: EVENT/THEME GATHERING
All St. Joseph parishioners gather with their families on a Sunday, immediately after the 10:00 a.m. Mass - 1:00 p.m. They provide A Dish To Pass and share a "gathering meal" together.
STEP 2: HOME PRACTICES
Each household takes a home kit to further their knowledge of the theme or liturgy.
STEP 3: CELEBRATION OF LITURGICAL OR CHURCH EVENT
All generations (children, parents, couples, singles, retired adults, college students, newcomers, teenagers, senior citizens) engage in more meaningful participation in that special liturgy or church event. It helps the participants to reflect and apply the meaning of the event into their daily lives as a Catholic.
The "Generations of Faith" program is dependent on support from a variety of volunteers and volunteers are always needed. Please consider helping with any or all of the following areas;
Liturgical (planning, music, greeters, MC, prayers, witness speakers)
Formation (activity planning, activity leadership, service projects, home kit preparation)
Hospitality (meal planning, room setup/take down, meal servers).
